Accessibility statement

We want this site to be usable on a bad day, on an old phone, on a slow connection, with a screen reader, or with the stylesheet switched off entirely. This page says honestly how far we have got.

Standard we aim for

Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA. We treat that as the floor, not the goal.

What has been done

• The site works with no JavaScript at all. Nothing here needs scripting, so nothing breaks when it is unavailable.
• Every page is a single column of ordinary HTML with one h1, real headings in order, and landmark regions for header, main content and footer.
• A skip link is the first thing keyboard focus reaches on every page.
• Focus is always visible, with a two-pixel outline that is not removed anywhere.
• Body text and interface text meet or exceed the 4.5:1 contrast requirement; large display text meets 3:1. Colour is never the only way information is conveyed.
• Text can be enlarged to 200% and the layout reflows to a single column without horizontal scrolling down to 320 pixels wide.
• The gentle fade-in on the front page is disabled automatically if your system is set to reduce motion. There is no other animation, no autoplay and nothing that flashes.
• Every page states its language, and the Swedish and English versions are linked to each other so a screen reader announces the switch correctly.
• Phone numbers on the crisis-support list are real links you can activate, not images or text you have to copy out by hand.

What has been checked, and how

Keyboard-only navigation of every page; visible focus order; colour contrast calculated against WCAG 2.2 AA; text scaling to 200%; rendering with our web fonts and stylesheet unavailable; and layout at 320 pixels wide.

What has not been done yet

We would rather list these than imply they are finished.

• No independent accessibility audit has been carried out. Everything above is our own testing.
• We have not yet tested the site with a screen reader. Keyboard traversal and document structure have been checked; VoiceOver, NVDA and JAWS testing is still to do.
• We have not yet had the plain-language quality of the Swedish and English texts reviewed by anyone outside the project.
• There is no easy-read or audio version of the material yet. We would like there to be.

If any part of this site is hard to use, please write to hello@fortara.org and say what happened, on what page, and with what device or assistive technology if you know it. We answer within a week and we will tell you plainly whether we can fix it and when.

If we do not respond, or the answer is not good enough, you can report the site to the Swedish Agency for Digital Government, DIGG.
